Kigali Venture Studio
A venture studio in Kigali that builds founder-led companies to unlock African value chains, turning real-economy opportunities into investable businesses.
Greenhouse horticulture, Rwanda.
A studio that builds companies, not just ideas.
The Kigali Venture Studio is Pharo’s platform for creating and scaling real-economy ventures, pairing founders with capital, engineering and operational support to move from a problem to an investable company.
Rwanda has strong talent and supportive policy, but few platforms reliably turn ideas into companies. The studio is a deliberate bet: a repeatable venture-building engine that sources founders, prototypes real solutions, and backs the strongest with patient, disciplined capital.
It launched as a focused pilot in 2026, beginning with agriculture and agribusiness, with the ambition to grow into a multi-country venture engine across our markets.
Africa does not lack technology. It lacks integration.
Cold chain, processing, storage, mechanisation and logistics already exist, but they rarely reach the small-scale producers who need them. The result is broken value chains and unrealised potential. Rwanda has talent and policy support, yet no engine that reliably turns promising ideas into investable companies.

What we learnt
Founder-led is the model.
Lessons from leading studios and our own ventures point the same way: companies built around committed founders, with real equity, outperform projects staffed from the centre.
Integration is the opportunity.
The lasting value is rarely in new technology. It is in connecting proven solutions to the producers and markets that cannot yet reach them.
